we couldn't do it without your support

Black women in Minnesota need your help.

In 2017, the African American Leadership Forum in Minnesota reported that African American businesses captured less than .5% spent by seven public entities of the $4 billion in contracting opportunities. At the AALF public forum, the message was clear- minority-owned businesses do not understand the value of certification or have access to capital for professional services. The gender pay gap is negatively impacting business leaders ability to capture opportunities and it is expanding the equity gap in our community.

The John S. and James L. Knight Foundation learned through the “Entrepreneurs Knight Out” series in 2018 that many business owners are left behind because they do not understand the benefits of marketing, networking, and small business certification.  The purpose of VisibilityMatters.us (previously Create Opportunity 2020) sponsored events and programs is to address the visibility gap facing women of color creatives, solo entrepreneurs, and freelancers by teaching the practical skills to strengthen their brand by promoting and engaging in the local community.
